Masala Onions

Masala Onions

This can be served as a snack and as a part of a main course.

INGREDIENTS:

Medium size Onions- 6

Coriander powder-2 tsp

Cumin powder-1 tsp

Hing-1 tsp

chilli powder-1 tsp (Kashmiri Mirch)

Garam Masala- 1 tsp

sesame seeds- 1 tsp

Lemon Rind- 1 pinch

Lemon juice- 2 tsp

Butter- 1tbs

Oil- 1tsp

Salt to taste

PROCESS:

  1. Mixx all the masalas together, besides the lemon rind and lemon juice.
  2. Peel and clean the onions and pat them dry.
  3. Make two slits on the onion, crossing each ther but not cutting the onions into halves.
  4. Fill the slit in onions with the masala.

5. Heat butter and oil in a pan and add the onions, cut side facing upwards.

6. Cover and cook for 10 minutes on slow flame.

7. Turn them over, add 2 tsps of water, lemon rind, cover and let it cook.

8. Cook for 5 minutes on low heat. Turn the onions over, add lemon juice and turn the heat off.

The dish is ready to be served.

Have it with tea or coffee or any drink as a snack .

Make rice and rasam or dal and have it as a side dish.

It’s easy and very quick to make.

Time required is maximum 20 minutes.
